On the shuttle bus to the hotel. Dustin was already irritated with my photography...
Monica was happier...
The Seattle Public Library.
We finally made it to the Westin, our hotel for the week. We were on floor 29 of the right tower (north).
The space needle was just down the street. We went there later.
Photo op!
The weather was nice the day we got there, so we headed right down to Pike Place market. We had lunch there most every day
The sports stadiums; Mt. Ranier in the background.
More views from the market:
The ominous red-glow makes the perfect backdrop to our ill-fated meal at the now infamous 'Icon Grill'. The decor was fun, though.
The original Starbucks. The inside almost made it look like this place could serve a decent cup of coffee. I didn't risk it, though.
The famous fish market....
The dude in the north face jacket at the counter, seconds later, was narrowly missed by an expertly thrown whole fish. Awesome.
These electron microscope pictures were the winners of the AVS art contest this year. My entry didn't make the cut, but it got some compliments from the staff.
North Haverbrook has nothing on this thing...
Monorail!
Monorail!
Monorail!
Mono...D'oh!
So, Monica and I went up into the Space Needle while dustin stayed down stairs. The wind at the top was 70 mph, so we couldn't go outside. We also got mildly nauseous, since the thing was rotating/swaying about 7 inches or so.
The Science Fiction Museum. There were also several statues strew about.
The monorail ride was 2 minutes long, so Dustin was going through high-kick withdrawal at this point.
It was windy... that thing in the background is the science museum.
Totem Pole!
The conference.
A Bluff-rat reunion... in the pacific northwest of all places.
Scott, George, and Me (from left). This Latona place was sweet. Decent selection of local beers. Good Times.
