We stayed at a little hotel we've frequented in the past, in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado
Here are some images from the lake right next to the hotel:

A view of Pike's Peak on the way to Green Mountain Falls from the C.S. Airport.

This gap in the hillside is visible from the top of Pikes Peak, too (see the other gallery)

Mom and I on the Gazebo Lake bridge to the gazebo:

The inside of our suite:

An old school heater:

Glass Fruit!

Vicky got her ring recently. So tiny!:

Another view of that gap:

There was a family of snakes living in this section of landscaping timbers. This one is out sunning himself:

This next set is from the drive up to West Creek, where we were scoping out the site of my Aunt Pat's memorial service.
A view of the peak:

A big fire ~3 years ago devastaed a huge amount of Colorado Forest:

But the Elk were still happy hanging out there:

With much of the ground cover burned away, flash flooding had destroyed a lot of the dirt road ways, including this section.

The site we were looking for wasn't too far down the road, so we just walked in from the damaged area.
Miraculously enough, a small stand of trees right at the site was virtually untouched by flame, so we were able to have our memorial service where we had planned:

This was on the first of a series of hikes Dad, Vicky and I took. This is crystal falls, just up the side of the mountain near our hotel.

We decided to jump off the trail and head up to a cluster of boulders...:

Dad and Vicky:

The boulders of interest:

Looking back down the hill into town:

We made it!

A picture of Mom (dark pants, orange shirt) I took through my dad's binoculars.

More images from the trek back down the hill:

Unlike with bears, you apparently shouldn't lie on the ground in fetal position when confronted by a puma:

Me, enjoying a bottle of New Belgium's 1554 Black Ale, pointing at the cluster of boulders we'd been sitting on a few moments ago:

Scenery from our drive to/from Denver (on the back roads):

A blurry pic of the Platte River from the window of the van.

We stopped at one of Aunt Pat's favorite scenic overlooks. Unfortunately there was fire damage in this area, too:

Yet another veiw of the Peak:
