Well, well, well... yep. It's mid-July. 5 months have gone by since
my last post. That's a bit much, I think, but it's been a hectic
spring.

Anyway. I got a job about 3 weeks ago. I start
tomorrow. I've relocated to Fremont, CA, which is where my job is. I
just moved in this week; still unpacking.

I also just turned
29, and that was fun. so. Anyway. The end of an era, I suppose, now
that I've moved out of Berkeley.

I just recently added some
movies of my new place (pre-move in) on my flickr account, which you
should be able to link to from the Sights
page. In other news, not a huge amount else has happened. I am going
to Crue-Fest 2 this week, primarily to see Godsmack and Drowning
Pool... though Motley Crue might be moderately entertaining.

I
should continue to post, hopefully more regularly than I
have.

Hope everyone is having a good summer.

Well, I know. It's the end of February. I've been busy, I guess. I
had an interview a week ago for a job I'm hoping to get... so that's
exciting... but I'm still waiting to hear back. In the meantime, I've
been looking for other opportunities, and have been trying to wrap up
my work here at Berkeley.... So, that's kept me busy and
preoccupied/concerned.

It would seem I'm predominantly looking
outside the Bay Area, for at least the immediate future, so I'm coping
with probably leaving my remaining good friends behind, but I'm
confident the miracle of the internet will keep us connected.
lolz.

In other news.... I, of all people, have *just* recently
subscribed to Netflix, and have really been enjoying the new
connectivity with Xbox Live. Also, we had some good times in Vegas in
late January... and I went to see Disturbed with Monica, also... which
was... an experience. It made me glad I didn't go to concerts like
that when I was in High School, because most of the high schoolers
there were totally dorking out w/ their moms. But,
whatever.

Anyway. I will keep you posted on how my job
prospects pan out.

Later.

Happy New Year! Sorry this is a week late, but I just got back to
Berkeley last night, and figured I'd wait to post/organize all of the
holiday photos before I updated here.

I don't have much else to
say at the moment. Holidays were good, I'm back now, and still
looking for a job. Woo.

Check out
the Sights page for links to my photos on
flickr.

Um... oh.... I guess another cool thing that happened
was Monica and I went to see NIN in Sacramento in December. That was
really awesome. I'm sure other stuff happened since my last post,
too, but... you know... whatever.

Later.

Done traveling for conference related purposes. AIChE was ok. It was
quite large, but I guess there are bigger conferences. My talk went
ok, and I had a fairly good time in Philly.... ate some cheesesteaks,
saw some history, went to Morimoto, saw some art. There are new links
on the Sights page...

for that. The
Philly trip gallery on my Flickr page also includes my trip to New
Brunswick, NJ to see Jeff and Marie, as well as my short trip down to
York to see Grandpa and Zee....

I also just uploaded a few
pics from Thanksgiving last night, though I did a horrible job of
taking pictures of anything but food.

Anyway... I'm back in
Berkeley now for a few weeks; headed back to Texas on the
18th. I've been enjoying the last few days off; just been
chilling out and going to/renting movies and running errands. Anyway.
At least I seem to be updating my blog regularly, albeit once a month.
Thanks for reading, if you're out there still...

Well, back from the first round of conferences. Had a nice visit with
Ted in Fort Worth after the GEC; Got to see my cousin Becky on my way
out of town, and got to visit my sister and her boyfriend during my
layover in Chicago on my way to Boston. The AVS was pretty good this
year, too, but attendence seemed to be down; The GEC was quite good, I
thought. Had some fun in Boston, didn't wander around too much, but I
did make it to the Aquarium one afternoon. That was cool.

My
on campus interview with JPL went ok, I think, I'm still waiting to
hear back from them, to see if I make it to the 2nd
round.

Anyway... just chilling out at the house today and
trying to rest up before we get back to work next week. Well, there
are pictures up on my flickr account now; there are links on
the Sights page...

Later.

October, October.

Well, things are going well, I suppose.
The initial stress of conference season is nearly over, as I should
have both of my talks done in the next 2-3 days and then it's off to
Dallas and Boston, respectively, for 2 weeks.

I went to an info
session tonight for NASA/JPL, which was cool; I've managed to score an
inteview for Friday morning, which I'm totally stoked about. I will
keep you (i.e. the internet) posted as things develop.

Pictures from Dallas and Boston will undoubtedly
follow.

Otherwise, just been trying to chill out when at all
possible. We went and saw Maria Bamford at the Punchline Comedy Club
last night; she was quite hilarious. I also have another round of
Dungeon Mastering under my belt from this past monday; I was a bit
concerned that I would kill everyone in the party, but only 1 noble
warrior fell (whom I then proceeded to deus ex machina back to life;
thanks Rondallnysthrunxion and your potion of Wish). Rock Band 2 is
pretty fun...though the recent DLC has been more of a money sink than
the previous releases.

As one last non sequitur, I recently
read that they're making a movie version of 'Cloudy with a Chance of
Meatballs'. It is hard to overstate my satisfaction with this
news.

Cheers.

Yo.

Well, it's September. Not much of
note has been going on. Just been working (trying to get things
squared away before the fall conferences all hit in a month or 2) and
chilling out whenever possible. I've been updating my Flickr page
(see links in the Sights section)... Labor day
weekend was fun; Monica and I went to see
the Chihuly exhibit at the de Young art museum in the
city and then met up with Brian for dinner
at Walzwerk.

We had a fish fry (pics in
the Sights section) on labor day proper; this
morning, Monica and I went to hike at Mcnee Ranch State Park down on
the coast south of SF.

Other than that, Ric got me hooked on
Everquest II, though now that my trial is up and I actually paid for
another month's subscription, I haven't had time to play in the last
week.

At any rate, I'm off to chill out for the rest of the
evening before we have to get back to grind at work. I'll try to not
be such a stranger.

Well, I'm still around. Summer has flown by. I just got back from a
10 or so day vacation in Texas. There's a link to my pics on Flickr
on the 'Sights' page, along with some other
updates that I forgot to add.

It was a good trip; my 10 year HS
reunion was actually fun. I had a subdued birthday, hung out with my
family, saw the fake Alamo, did some hiking in near 100 degree
weather, went to Austin and had fun relaxing.

I also went to
the 'Plasma Processing Science' Gordon Conference at Mount Holyoke in Massachusetts
the 3rd week of July. It was pretty cool; learned some stuff, met
some folks, talked about science, etc.

Anyway, it's back to
work tomorrow, so I'm going to resume watching the last day of X-Games
14 and enjoy the rest of my weekend. Later.

the Yosemite video clips in 720p, too.

In other news, just
chilling out, enjoying the summer and trying to keep things on track
at work. Got quite a few conferences coming up very soon, so we're
hoping that our latest simulations do what we designed them to

Well, updates to come. Jeff and Marie's wedding was
wonderful. I got my new camera, so there are tons of pictures from
that.

We just got back from Yosemite yesterday; I have a ton of
things to post from that as well.... Chances are very good I'll be
getting a Pro account on Flickr as I'm just too busy lately to really
devote as much time to generating these photo galleries oldschool
style; while the PERL scripts I wrote/use are very helpful, I still a
have to do a lot of photo prep work that I think Flickr will speed
up...so I will definitely keep you posted when that happens.

In
other news, my laptop died tonight... apparently the motherboard is
dead, or at least the phone tech thinks so after 1:15 of pointless
troubleshooting... at least I agree with the assessment; It's my work
machine, so we have the Dell super warranty... hopefully all will be
fixed in the next day or so.

On another note, just growing
older as usual. Work is fine. Re-evaluating personal life goals, etc.
Tedious, boring discussions with self; realize I should probably start
writing again to vent stress and anxiety.

Anyway, still tired
from hiking for 4.5 days straight. Going to bed now.

Well, an update from Chicago. Been hanging out with Vicky, she's
doing well and they seem to have a pretty nice apartment up here. We
went and saw the play that my sister is stage manager for last night,
it was pretty good. I have lots of pictures (and will have a ton more
from the rest of the trip, too, i'm sure).

One highlight from

Well, the 3 week update. Sorry. I thought having my RSS on my google home page would remind me to update things more often. I guess it didn't; I'm just too busy reading everyone else's RSS feeds to worry about my own.

So, what's been up?... uh.... working a lot, I guess.... Trying to publish things and such;running simulations and debugging things. Making neat research movies.

I got some sweet discounting at Circuit City on my wireless Rock Band guitar, thanks to their 'get a $24 gift card if we don't have your order ready for pickup in 24 minutes' deal and their general ineptitude.

I guess I'm about to order Grand Theft Auto IV....so that should be neat. I've been backlogged on games, though; I'm finally on the verge of finishing the expansion pack for Titan Quest. I have 2 yet-to-be-installed expansions for HOMMV sitting on my floor, and I still haven't quite hit the 'my-god-this-is-so-boring-and-repetitive' wall in Assassin's Creed on 360, so you know.... I have other stuff to play.

The difficulties here are compounded by our house's recent acquisition of a Tivo, so I also spend more time watching TV and then just going to bed during the week now than I once could in my youth. Apparently sleep is important to you know... working...in the brain...

Yeah. So...yeah... more to report later.

Well, we had a pretty good Easter yesterday. I'm posting a bunch of pictures to the galleries from Egg dyeing and Rock Band the night before as well as the festivities on Sunday from Megan's birthday brunch, Easter Dinner, the Egg Hunt, and the post-hunt party.

In other news, we're technically on spring break this week. So it's a nice week to work without any undergrads being on campus. Or at the gym. Good times.

Other things have been going well. We've gotten into full-swing mode with D&D, but we're having fun, and I think I'm beginning to be able to manage my free time more effectively as of late. Still trying to reserve time for reading and playing video games and cooking, etc.

On the TV front... we dropped Comcast digital cable. We're finally free of the shackles of their horrible, horrible DVR. We need a new DVR now, though, even though we're down to 35 channels....Fortunately, everything I want to see on cable is pretty much streamed free online right after the shows air, so all is well....the season finale of Frisky Dingo was on last night.... man, I love that show. The Season 1 DVD is on its way.

At any rate. I will keep you posted of other spring-time highlights as they arise. Later.
