So, We started playing Diplomacy this spring. If you've never played
before, you can learn more about it here.
The images below are in reverse order
(most recent moves first), so if you want to jump to the beginning, go
to the bottom of the page.
I will try to
keep this as updated as I can; our current turn schedule is as
follows:
Sunday: 10pm orders due
Monday: 12noon disbands/
retreats due
Monday: 10pm builds (if a fall season) due
Tuesday: 10pm orders due
Wednesday: 12noon disbands/ retreats
due
Wednesday: 10pm builds (if a fall season) due
Thursday:
10pm orders due
Friday: 12noon disbands/ retreats due
Friday:
10pm builds (if a fall season) due
Also note that my
commentaries are probably going to be somewhat biased, as I am most
concerned with my moves (France), though from the images one should be
able to see what is going on at each move. I'm also enabling
commenting, so the other factions can add their 2 cents if it is so
desired.
Oh, and P.S., all these images are from Realpolitik.
Fall 1906
Sorry for
the lack of updates. I may eventually get around to filling in the
gap here, but for now this is where we stand:
I will endeavor to get back on a
decent update schedule... though I'm going to Vegas next weekend, so
it may fall apart again. But, if you're reading this page, there's a
95% chance you're playing the game, so I probably don't need to remind
you of what's going on.
Needless to say, my friends and I
(England, France, Italy, and Turkey) are not doing so hot for the time
being. We did manage to whittle away a little bit at Germany last
turn, but for the most part we're getting pushed into a
corner.
Spring 1904
Our
moves for the spring were as follows. It was surprisingly
standoff-ish:
But the stage is now set for some further conflict....:
Fall 1903
Here's
the initial moves (and the final positions from the spring. There
were some interesting moves on all fronts. Certain alliances were
made even more tenuous, and some were... well.... never really
alliances at all, apparently:
Here's the resolution, including
retreats/disbands/builds:
Spring 1903
Some
moves were made. I technically didn't break any promises, but I may
have bent a few.
Here
we are after resolution (see below). I teamed up with Italy and
England (perhaps without them knowing of each other's respective roles
in the whole scenario), forcing one of Germany's armies to be
disbanded. It was a cheap shot (or a brilliant tactical maneuver...I
forget how it works with war), but I took it (I owed Germany,
anyway).
Russia continues to wield its power, apparently
attempting to clamp down on the entire map like a giant lobster
claw.
Turkey's still down there... Austria-Hungary and Italy
are now poised in a coin-flipping match to call each other's
bluff...
Germany has to make a retreat yet, but it seems fairly
intuitive as to where...the next move drops Thursday....BE
THERE!
Winter 1902
Here's the current landscape. I decided to retreat. Tensions are running high.... Tune back in later tomorrow to see what happens!!!!
Fall 1902
Here's
the web of moves we all entered.
This played out pretty close to what
I thought was going to happen, but it wasn't quite as bad as it could
have been (for France). I am now left to decide whether or not I
should retreat or disband my army (but I remind everyone in the game
(and other readers) there is no discussion until after I do that and
then after we all build).... Here's after those have been resolved,
I'll post again after the rebuilding process is over:
Spring and Summer 1902
Here's where things start to go crazy. With assurances from Germany and Italy, I attempted a stupid, stupid daisy chain maneuver that ends up biting me in the ass. In reality, the big problem is Germany, whose supported move into Burgundy will leave Belgium open in the following turn. Russia supports Germany taking Denmark, while England prepares itself for futher conflict in the region before the Fall hits. Russia also slips into Norway, and manages to kick Turkey out of the Black sea. Austria-Hungary,Turkey, and Russia also carry out some further maneuvers and butt heads at several borders. Italy moves into the Western Mediterranean to threaten the French control on Iberia...
And here is the resolution, which leads to me having to retreat into Paris, while Turkey returns to Ankara:
Winter 1901
Here is the resolution of the moves from the fall, including the additional builds (boxes) for each faction. We've begun to fortify our troops for the conflict of the coming year.
Fall 1901
From our
positions in the Fall, we issued new orders. Germany had agreed to
let me take Belgium, but still attempted to be the aggressor and move
into Burgundy. I took 2 new supply centers. England and Germany both
made a play for Denmark. This would turn out to be a source of
conflict over the next several moves. Italy moved into Tunis, which
will allow for movement towards Iberia in the following moves. The
Russians also made a play for Sweden and Rumania, while England took
Norway.
Spring 1901
Here, we started out in the Spring of 1901. I'm France. This indicates our first move. There wasn't much contest on this first go-round, though Russia and Austria-Hungary bounced in Galicia, and Russia and Turkey bounced in the Black Sea:
